Honorary professors of Climate Change Research

University of Copenhagen has appointed a number of prominent, foreign, climate researchers to be honorary professors a part of the university's primary focus on climate research and climate change. The honorary professors are appointed for five years. The 17 professors cover a broad reach of climate research; from law issues to health sciences and from atmospheric research to the challenge of transportation. Climate change is not an isolated research area, but a general and global problem, which needs co-operation between many subject areas. The 17 professors all come from universities in the IARU-alliance (International Alliance of Research Universities). IARU is behind the great congress on research: "Climate Change, Challenges, Risks and Decisions". The congress will gather the world's top climate researchers, and they will all contribute with their latest research. This will be forwarded to the decisions-makers at COP15. The congress takes place 10-12th march 2008.

Professor Steve Rayner Oxford University	Kyoto process, democratic form of goverment, global climate and environmental changes, cultural theory.
Professor Daniel Esty Yale University	Environmental law and adjustment.
Dr. Wang Jin Peking University	Expert in climate related legislation, and environmental law.
Professor Diana Liverman Oxford University	Current research includes work on geographies of the new carbon economy, neoliberalism and the environment, making climate science and forecasts more useful to stakeholders, understanding environmental problems and governance on the US-Mexico border, and theorizing vulnerability to global change.
Professor Susan Owens Cambridge University	Theoretical and practical sustainable development, agriculture and landresources, environmental policy and with process process politics.
Professor Kazuhiko Takeuchi Tokyo University	Ecosystem management, landscape planning and environmental science.
Dr. Michael Saunders Singapore University	Water and water extraction and reuse of vaste water, model of sludge, see- and fresh water sediments.
Professor Robert T. Whittaker Oxford University	Supervision, and effect of climate changes on biodiversity: macro-ecology, bio-geography, strategies on nature preservation.
Professor Tony McMichael Australian National University	Environmental health risks. Health risks caused by global environmental changes, work-related sickness.
Dr. Will Steffen Australien National University	The human and environmental interaction in Earth Systems, sustainability and Earth Systems, and climate change.
Professor Tong Zhu Peking University	Environmental science, agriculture, health related effects of pollution.
Associate professor Kristie Boering Berkerley University	Physical and analytical chemistry, chemistry and mass transport, numerical modelling.
Professor Richard P. Wayne Oxford University	Physical and theoretical chemistry, the ozone layer, organic systems.
Professor Ulrike Lohmann ETH, Zürich University	Professor of environmental medicin, health related effects of environmental factors in preparation for airpolution, prevention, diet factors, individual exposure assessment especially for particulate air pollution in the form of models, personal-held meters and biomarkers.
Professor Christoph Schär ETH, Zürich University	Climatic dynamics and water cycles. Atmospheric dynamics, topographic effects on air currents, numerical methods in atmospheric and climatic models.
